We are constantly on the prowl for Technology Mentors who can work with youth in the elementary, middle, and high school grades. Mentors will be working in an after-school environment using a project-based approach. Vision Education & Media after school program activities are designed to wrap around the school day curriculum and creatively enhance students' learning using computers. The programs involve Logo programming language, LEGO Robotics, FIRST Robotics, Digital Video, Digital Video Blogging, and Digital Audio. This is an opportunity to have fun teaching, to help students develop creative and academic skills through the creation of multimedia projects, and the opportunity to develop/teach technology integrated curriculum. Programs available to teach are:

1) LEGO Robotics for Elementary and Middle School students
2) First Lego League (FLL) Competitions in Lego Robotics
3) Computer Game and Animation Programming (using MicroWorlds software) for Elementary and Middle School students
4) Digital Video Blogging for High School students in the Bronx
5) Digital Audio for High School students in the Bronx
6) High School Robotics, including mentoring in the FIRST Robotics competition
7) Digital Video for Elementary School

These programs vary in locations, including the Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Westchester, and Newark, New Jersey.

*Qualifications*:
Candidates must have teaching or tutoring experience and / or experience working with youth.

Must have basic computer skills (Mac OS and Windows environments) and the ability to learn.
Candidates must be mature, responsible, flexible, able to work independently, possess strong communication skills, and a desire to work with youth.

For the Digital Video Blogging Program or Digital Audio program, you must have experience working with Digital Video or Digital Audio.

*The following skills are preferred but not required*:
*Multimedia interactive software/programming experience
*Basic HTML Knowledge
*Lego Robotics experience or familiarity
*Working with teachers in a K-12 environment
*Bachelor or Master's degree or current graduate student in Education , Educational Technology, Math, Science, or Technology

This is a great opportunity for graduate students looking for part-time work in the New York city area. This position is part-time with projects starting various dates between end of September and end of October. You can work from twice a week up to four or five times a week. Training is provided. Computer clubs take place 1.5-2 hours during the after-school hours of approximately 2:30-5:30 pm.
Candidates are responsible for transportation to and from school locations. Projects of varying duration are available, so please be prepared to discuss your availability to commit to a project through its completion upon interviewing.
